Wrestling, more specifically, professional wrestling is not recognised as a real sport but rather, sports entertainment. Nevertheless, wrestling as grown tremendously in popularity over the last few years! Of all the wrestling companies, by far the biggest is the WWE.
Compared to all other sports, wrestling receives very little recognition by most bookmakers, despite its growing popularity. It is even recognised less than MMA.
Given its fast-growing popularity, we think it’s about time that bookmakers give wrestling a chance. Some will argue that, given the pre-determined nature of wrestling, it is not something that you can bet on. Our argument here is that unless you are an insider, you can never truly know the outcome of a given match.
Wrestling has a very loyal fan base across the world. Many fans of sport, particularly MMA fans are also wrestling fans. We think that by offering opportunities to bet on wrestling, both bookmakers and fans would benefit. On some wrestling forums, some fans have debated that even with its pre-determined nature, being allowed to bet on wrestling would add some extra spice to their viewing experience.
There are a small number of bookmakers that do offer bets on wrestling: Paddy Power occasionally offers bets on wrestling’s biggest events. However, more can be done to encourage opportunities to bet on this sports entertainment. More bookies should be encouraged to offer occasional bets to experiment with this market.
We think that there is a big market for wrestling bets and it’s only a matter of time before we see an increase in opportunities, much like what we are seeing with MMA!
