Betting exchanges typically charge commission on winning bets.

All of our calculations shown in our step-by-step guides factor in 0% exchange commission – that’s because as OddsMonkey Premium members, we benefit from 0% commission on Smarkets. However, if you are using a different exchange or are not yet an OddsMonkey Premium member, then you are likely to be paying commission on your winning exchange bets, and so your calculations would need to factor this in.

The industry standard commission is 5%. If you don’t know what commission your exchange charges, we recommend contacting their support team for help.

Smarkets charge 2% commission on winning bets (for non-OddsMonkey Premium members), and so if we were to factor this into our calculation, we would enter the commission in the ‘Lay Commission’ box, along with the relevant stake and odds in the free Matched Betting Calculator.

Factoring the commission into the calculation would clearly influence the profit or Qualifying Loss.
