An Accumulator (Acca) is a bet that is made up of multiple bets. An acca is usually made up of at least 3 bets (also called ‘selections’ and ‘legs’) but can include over 100 bets if you so choose!
For an acca bet to win, all the selections in the acca must win; if you have 3 selections in your acca, then all 3 must win; if you have 50 selections in your acca, then all 50 must win! If any one of your selections lose, then your acca bet will lose!
As you can see, accas carry a higher risk than a regular single bet. However, with higher risk comes higher reward! Winning accas usually have a much higher payout than winning single bets. And the more selections you have in your acca, then the higher the payout when the acca wins!
Accas are very popular with punters because of the potential to win big for a small stake. It is very possible to win £1,000’s (even £10,000’s) from just a £1 stake!
Placing an acca bet is very straightforward – simply select your bets as normal, and once you have at least 3 bets (or more depending on the bookmaker) on your bet slip, you will be given the option to place those bets individually or together as an acca. An acca can usually include selections within the same sport or across different sports.
As you can see in the example bet slip below, we have selected 4 bets across different sports, including horse racing, football and MMA. We can either place these bets individually as 4 regular single bets, or we can place them together as a 4-fold (4-selection) acca. You can see that as a 4-fold acca, the odds are 358.59, giving us the potential to win £3,585.93 from just a £10 stake!
As matched bettors, we should become familiar with accas, as bookmakers will put out acca-based offers and promotions. There are tools that we can use to matched bet on acca offers and extract profit, which we will discuss in a later section!
