Below are some of my tips for smarter horse racing betting:
Look At Previous Results
Looking at the previous results of a selected horse will give you an indication of how an upcoming race will go. The further back you go the more accurate pattern you will draw to help you predict the upcoming result. To see previous race results, I recommend checking out https://www.racingpost.com/
Watch The Races
Previous results and stats can only tell you so much, watching the races themselves will give you a better indication of how they perform. I recommend making a habit of watching the races and making notes on certain horses that catch your interest (either how they handle certain distances and jumps etc). Once you have become familiar with a few key horses that you have picked out, that’s the time you place a bet on their next race.
Consider Each-Way Betting
When there’s a number of horses in the race, it is hard to predict whether your horse will come first. Luckily you don’t always need your horse to come first to win. In some cases, it is a wiser choice to bet to place than to bet to just win. By placing an each-way bet, although your potential winnings are less, you have an increased chance of winning!
Shop Around For The Best Odds
Different odds are offered across all bookmakers on the same horse. Shop around to see which bookmakers offer the best odds on your selected horse – take a look at our list of bookmakers and compare for the best odds!
Keep Your Eye Out For Weekend Races
There are horse races available every day, however, weekend racing is where it’s at! Weekends (especially Saturday afternoons) offer the best racing lineups, with more choice and at better odds! So if you want to maximize your racing bets, save your pounds for the weekends!
