As of March 2019, BetBright ceased all of its sports betting operations entirely, spelling bad news for all of its customers, especially those who placed bets for Cheltenham Festival. Luckily, 888 Holdings who acquired BetBright, agreed to honour any bets placed for the festival. Customers that had an account with BetBright were given the chance to withdraw all their monies from the bookmaker by a specified deadline.

Later in the same month, 188Bet decided to cease its sports betting operations in Britain and Ireland. Again, customers were given the chance to withdraw all their monies from the bookmaker by a specified deadline.

These examples highlight the importance of taking caution when betting with smaller bookmakers. Fortunately, in the above examples, customers were given the chance to withdraw their monies from their accounts, however, the same cannot be said for all bookmakers that cease its operations in the past nor can this chance be guaranteed by similar bookmakers that ceases its operations in the future.

The lesson here is that, do not run the risk of placing your money with bookmakers that are much less established, because you might not get it back if things go wrong! However, do not mistake being smaller with being less established or less safe. There exist bookmakers that are smaller, yet well established.

Fortunately, we only list and promote established and reputable bookmakers where we feel your bets and money are safe – check out our full of list of bookmakers!
